Spottswoode In the House!

Last night, the winemaker of Spottswoode, Aron Weinkauf, dropped by for a visit and what a great time we all had! He brought in a stunning lineup from the 2014 and 2015 Sauvignon Blanc and the 2012 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon, which went down way too easy, to a vintage showcase of Spottswoode: 2000, 2004, 2011, 2012 and 2013!

The ’00 was silky smooth and the 2004 was showing at a fantastic spot with gorgeous notes of dried plums, mocha, nutmeg, sweet cigar, and dried purple and red flowers.

2011 Spottswoode was terrific! The vintage’s signature notes were some of the most complimentary in this bottle of Spottswoode than most other Cabernets we have had of the same vintage. Rich fruit with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, gravel and dark spices. This is a stunning example of the vintage!

The 2012 and the 2013 were spectacular! The 2012 was rich, flashy and sexy while the 2013 had a touch more character to give in terms of dimensions, broader structure, depth and more textured followed by a great finish. There is no going wrong with these two vintages, both are killer Cabernets that are well worth cellar-ing if you have the control not to drink it up! You can grab the 2012 now with us for $169.95 a bottle but we will have to be more patient for the 2013’s. They will be released this fall and should be in by October. Secure the 2013 Spottswoode and pre-order yours today! You don’t want to miss out on these head-turning Cabernets! 2013 Spottswoode- $189.95/btl. Just let me know- kim@graileys.com
