Bevan Cellars’ Petaluma Gap Pinot for the Win!

Last night we welcomed the fabulous Victoria de Crescenzo of Bevan Cellars for the perfect Hump Day pick me up tasting of their 2014 Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs. Bevan Cellars has a great following and I completely understand why, the wines are shear crowd pleasers that just goes down way too easy. Each seat was sat and the wines were flowing with Bevan’s flashy Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay, the “sex-kitten” Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir and the “tom-cat” Rita’s Crown Pinot all from 2014.

2014 Bevan Cellars “Ritchie Vineyard” Chardnonay- $69.95/btl- From the famous “Ritchie Vineyard”, Russell Bevan’s interpretation is wonderfully balanced. Although rich and full bodied, there is beautiful minerality in its core creating this purity that gives this ripe and rich Chardonnay a bright lift that I quite enjoy. Each sip is filled with abundant flavors with spurts of yellow flowers, lemon zest and river rocks to keep your palate savoring for more.

2014 Bevan Cellars “Petaluma Gap” Pinot Noir- $79.95/btl- MEOW!! Now this is a sultry Pinot Noir! Ultra ripe bing cherries, raspberries and sweet cola spice coats the mouth while wild roses and dark spices completely charms the mid-palate. There is a ripe fruit-attack so juicy that it is almost nearing sweet; with a velvety texture and a solid finish, what’s not to love in this oober-sexy Pinot Noir.

2014 Bevan Cellars “Rita’s Crown” Pinot Noir- $79.95/btl- The Rita’s Crown held more oomph that the Petaluma didn’t have. Darker crushed berries here with more savory notes and deeper spice, the Rita’s Crown also holds more weight while still being very polished and supple in texture. Another great Pinot Noir from the Bevan Cellars selection that is perfect in the glass now that can also hold up for the next five to seven years; but with how good this Pinot Noir was showing last night, I wouldn’t be able to wait.
