06 Elizabeth Salmon Rose Steals the Show!

Last week we had a stunning lineup of Billecart Salmon Champagne. These wines are some of our house favorites, especially the well celebrated Elizabeth Salmon rose! Even their Non-Vintage Rose is a beautiful Champagne that I could appreciate in my glass all summer long! Check out our tasting and as always, if there is anything you would like for your own cellar, don’t hesitate to ask!  CHEERS! kim@graileys.com

Billecart Salmon tasting 2016

2004 Billecart Salmon Blanc de Blanc- There is lots going on in this powerful Champagne. What a great start to the night! Vibrant minerals laced with crunchy green apples, fresh pears and white flowers with wonderful smokey notes locked within.

1999 Billecart-Salmon Cuvee Nicolas Francois- Silky and aromatic with seamless flavors of toasted pastry and almonds. The bright fruit and minerals are all very complimentary in its tiny, creamy bubbles.

2002 Billecart Salmon Cuvee Nicolas Francois- One of my personal favorites from the lineup! Ultra creamy bubbles with lively aromatics and the flavors and structure focused and thrilling! This bottle has everything I love in great Champagne. Toasty brioche, lemon zest, white peach, crushed chalk, sweet cream and roasted nuts. This is a beautiful Champagne you want to cellar!

2006 Billecart Salmon Cuvee Elizabeth Salmon Rose- The ’06 Elizabeth Salmon Rose stole the show! This is a gorgeous rose filled with bright strawberry and crushed red cherry fruit that lingered on and on! The minerals are fantastic and the finish is haunting! This Rose Champagne is on fire!

1999 Billecart Salmon Cuvee Clos St. Hilaire- I didn’t get a chance to try this rare Champagne but from what the members and my colleague says, it was quite stunning! Wonderfully complex and quite dynamic with deep spice and savory components. From the reactions of the members attending the tasting, it seemed like this was showing at it’s prime but has a great life ahead of it as well!
