We had a small but good group around the table last night. Everyone popped a bottle or two and shared it around. The Barbour was a huge hit as well as the Eyrins and Capture…
2006 Pirouette Cabernet Sauvignon – It has been about six months since I last tasted this wine. The wine was drinking very well. Dark fruit with gritty tannins and a pleasant finish.
2000 Monbousquet – I thought the Monbousquet was drinking very well. Classic notes of burnt coffee, roasted plums, and compost.
2008 Cinq Cepages – As I said yesterday, this is becoming one of my new favorite wines, expect to see this bottle in the lineup for the next few weeks…
2009 Capture Harmonie – Every time I taste this wine it impresses me. Soft tannins with great fruit and seamless balance.
2009 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon – A nice bottle of Cabernet showing great black and red fruit notes followed by big spice box on the finish.
1997 Etude Cabernet Sauvignon – A bright nose of Bing cherry and vanilla followed by milk chocolate and a hint of rose petal.
2009 Chateau des Eyrins – While the Cinq Cepages is fast becoming a go to Cali Cab this Eyrins is quickly becoming my go to Bordeaux. I was very impressed with I tasted this wine from the barrel last year in Bordeaux, it has become exponentially better since then. Look for this bottle to be a hidden gem in the years to come…
2007 Barbour Cabernet Sauvignon – Around the table this wine was a smash hit! Big black fruit notes with stunning spice and tobacco notes on the finish. A great bottle of wine for Cali Cab lovers.
